HWF: Since 2005, Helping with furniture has aided over 470 refugee families in the Ottawa area - Adults (mainly women) and children. With the generosity of both its volunteer crew and furniture donors in the community, HWF has delivered furniture as well as home essentials (linen, kitchenware, dishes) to recently arrived refugee claimants. Most of these families arrive completely without belongings and with very little financial means. They have often fled from conflict and life-threatning situations. Those who can find housing often spend months with little or no furniture and are even sometimes forced to share one plate for an entire family.
